Moss cannot establish on metal surfaces. The smooth, non-porous surface of standing seam panels provides no foothold for moss spores. The material is completely impervious to moisture, biological growth, UV degradation, and fire. Both materials carry significant weight — concrete tile weighs roughly 900 pounds per square (100 square feet), and natural slate can exceed 1,000 pounds per square.
